Great Inagua is the third largest island in The Bahamas, located on the southern most tip of The Bahamas Archipelago and the Great Bahamas Bank waterway. The island is located 490 miles southeast of Miami and about 30 miles to the west of the Turks and Caicos. In addition to Great Inagua, there is also Little Inagua that lies to the northeast about seven miles from the main island. The Inagua islands are located almost in the Windward Passage, one of the busiest shipping lanes in the Western Hemisphere.
Great Inagua is a dry flat island with long deserted beaches wrapping a variety of ecosystems, from mangroves to cactus savannah. The island has rains (showers to most other people) in September/October and May, but is dry with clear blue skies for most of the rest of the year. (Information courtesy of Captain C.
